I? know this is an "old" video, but I'm glad somebody put it on here. We've only had goats for about 2 mths, dairy also, just kidded last one out yesterday. I trim ours about once a week, cause I'm paranoid of hoof rot...we have very clay/dirty pasture. Never seen hooves that long before!

You'll notice that they need to be? trimmed much more often if they are fed grain rather than browse or hay. More grain = more kerotin

Thank you so much for posting this. I just got my first goat last weekend, and her hooves are deplorable. No matter how much i read, its always better to see it being? done before undertaking this myself.

Your right he should have been done soon (just like he says in the clip.) That's why I asked him to do it. I bought this goat but wanted everything done to her that? should have been done and taped it so I would know just what and how to do it. I am very happy with the goat and glad I bought these two from them. She is a great milker (once I figured out how to milk..lol..)

Please trim more often if you can. I currently own 7, and they get trimmed at the least? once a month.
