Bill Drew Memorial Tournament Info

If you have been to Vancouver Island before you know that this is an absolutely beautiful and fun place to visit.  This soccer tournament is a very friendly tournament with the emphasis on having fun.

The tournament has two age categories.. O40 and O50.

For an O40 team all players must be over the age of 40.  For the O50 team, they may have up to 3 players no younger than 48.

We are guaranteed 4 games with 30 minute halves.  All games to played on Sat and Sun at Blue Heron Park in Sidney.

This tournament requires a travel day (Friday) to get to Sidney. It will be necessary to take a Ferry from the Mainland to Sidney.  There are a few options to get to the mainland and Sidney.

We are going to try and have early games scheduled  for Sunday as this will allow those of you who wish to come back on Sunday an opportunity to catch the Ferry back to the mainland.  The tournament is accommodating for teams who are in need of this.

At this time the word is that passports are not required for travel to and from Canada if you are driving.  If you fly then a passport is required.  A birth certificate with drivers license should suffice or even an expired passport.

Ferry Information . . .
We are recommending that players book passage on the Coho Ferry which departs out of Port Angeles, WA.  This ferry seems to have the best schedule which meets our needs.

To minimize the number of cars we take we are suggesting that we carpool.  Riders can help split the cost of taking a car on the Ferry.

We have outlined 3 options to get from the mainland to Vancouver Island.  The good news is you do not need a passport if you are driving.  The only requirements is a photo I.D. and a birth certificate.  It is suggested however, that  those who do have passports to bring them.

SOCCER CHANTS

FC77 Mojo.. Anytime Chant
Beware this chant can break out at anytime, anywhere!  Once it's started everyone must join in.   We don't really know what the hell  it means
but it sounds good

(Chant introduced by Joe Westphal)

Siggy Saki, Siggy Saki  Oy Oy Oy!
Siggy Saki, Siggy Saki  Oy Oy Oy!
Siggy Saki, Siggy Saki  Oy Oy Oy!

FC77 Mojo.. Praise to the JuJu Coach Chant.. actually it's a doll!
This chant is done at the conclusion of a game. The team gathers in a circle and claps their hands in a prayer fashion while chanting Ju Ju.  The clapping and chanting increases in speed until it reaches a crescendo at which time the team finishes with "HEY"
(Chant introduced by Don Makande.. the Prince of Zimbawe)

JuJu, JuJu, JuJu, Hey!
