but just because an animal is rescued does not mean it has the life it deserves being kept on a leash or in a cage. (hopefully this fox has lots of time to run and play outside off leash) It is a sacred right of humans to be free-- why not all creatures? Too many pets are kept cooped up, in cages, or indoors, for nothing other than our own entertainment. It is a? form of cruelty by so-called 'animal lovers'

@koolada68 Many domesticated foxes are found injured, or rescued from places like fur farms. If you absolutely need somebody to be mad at, go yell at the fur farmers, not the people who rescue the animals who are imprisoned there. As for other domesticated animals, many of them have been bred to be accustomed to and even desire human contact. Some species would not even be capable of surviving in the wild, especially with the inhospitable environment modern society provides for? them.

The changes that came with tameness could have been caused by 1. Inbreeding. Selecting? only the tamest few, generation after generation can reduce genetic health, causing appearance changes. 2. Human unconscious selection. Humans were picking the tamest, but perhaps their perceptions of tameness was altered by how cute the animal appeared. Floppy ears, interesting colouration, etc. 3. Complex genetic interactions. Maybe genes for appearance genuinely are linked to the genes for tameness.

From my perspective this in itself is indisputable evidence of evolution. Not only did their behaviour change, their physicality also changed. Even though the breeding? is not natural selection, it remains that the animals actual genetic make up changed to reflect their situation, to survive, and not just their behaviour.

I think how ever it happened it probably happened in one area where people were really trying to breed for domestication in a controlled environment.
