@WarhorseModelworks . I would love to afford all of Stoners Guns but for a simple person on a budget . The AK is the best Way ! And like I've sad before Ak all the way or no way !. I know that most simple people just want something that works well? and will not break or wear out to soon. The other thing is that simple people like simplicity and not a lot of bells and whistles that cost to much and are fragile The AK is a legion and I'm not prejudice against Guns I'm just simple and reliable.

@WarhorseModelworks .Spray and pray is what the AR is good for because one shot kills are not very often achieved with a 55 grain bullet that loses it's terminal energy real fast. The 30 cal bullet has more mass and more kinetic energy to disperse on impact . so your left praying that the last bullet that comes out of your jammed or broken AR would have done what it begun. The guns of the past like M1 grands? and M14 where made to take a liking and keep on ticking ! Not the M16 or AR-15s

@WarhorseModelworks . I love Guns and respect those that love Guns for their protection of home and country. Stoner is not the best gun designer but i still respect his efforts in? making some cool guns. I don't like some of his gun designs only because he didn't use the KISS rule "Keep - It - Simple - Stupid " . Stoner's Gun designs are nice but have to many small moving parts that can break be lost or wear out to soon.

@WarhorseModelworks . The AKS-74 sales are not doing good. I would not by a rifle that has less? power and less available ammo to shoot. I'M not one of those brainwashed political fools that believe in carrying more ammo that is less powerful. I believe in having one round kills then to have many rounds just wound my enemies. The 223 cal is designed to wound and not kill at 100 yards .That is why 223 is not permitted for hunting big game animals like deer and elk.

Part III -real evidence based on use by fully trained (IE not African rebels or Taliban militia or Zetas) of the hit rates for the 7.62x39s in the hands of regular troops who get range time. I realize combat hit rates are abysmal all around, but the "one shot" you mention,? could be the one that saves your life, as opposed to spray and pray. Anyway, both Kalashnikov and Stoner were weapon design genuises. Last, never shoot cheap ammo (polymer coated? slime) - better to learn to throw M-80s.

@jaceren69 Part II - The original AK is a great tool, and can be used with mud up the barrel, etc. But I am still waiting for a comparable system, similar to what the Stoner had, from the Ak family of arms. I have not yet been able to get my hands on a SCAR, but it would appear that is a similar "modular" concept. In any event, carrying hundreds of rounds of .556 at a lower weight is very important. I would have more respect for the pre-74 AK series if? we had (cont.)

@jaceren69 The AK vs. AR family debate will never end, but I do note that the newest Russian weapons in the AKS-74 etc. series fire ammunition that is very smilar to .556 62 grain,? a switch which IMHO shows that even the Russians saw that a modification close to the AR/M-16/M-4 ammo was warranted. My comments are related to the pre-74 AKs. In well-trained hands a standard AK (7.62x39mm) can hit small groups out past 100 yards, yes. I would take a belt fed or box feed .556 over that. (cont.)

@WarhorseModelworks .You got me all riled up on? one of my favorite subjects. I will say one more thing about the AK, when i say that the AK is not as accurate as the AR we are talking about a 1/2 or one inch difference at 100 yards. I know that if you shoot cheep ammo from an AR the Ak will out preform the AR in accuracy. I must tell you that the barrel length, thickness & speed of the bullet will make a big difference in accuracy. as well as the shooters competence in shooting the AK rifle.

@WarhorseModelworks . I think that Eugene Stoner was a genius because i love all kind of different guns. But i must be honest about a tool that your putting your life on to perform in the toughest conditions. I give credit to Stoner for making a cool looking Gun but the Ak is way more superior in Power, Reliability,simplicity and Durability. I can say that The Ak is not as accurate as the AR But i would not? sacrifice performance for that one accurate shot that may be your last.

@WarhorseModelworks .Have you noticed the new gas system designs for the AR rifles ? The are simply copying the AK gas piston design because? it's proven tough, reliable and simple to maintain in a working condition. The piston design runs cooler and will not clog up or jam as easily as the AR. There is an episode on the show "sons of guns " where it shows the gas tube get cherry red hot on the AR and proved to be very dangerous if it was shot more then 300 shot with out cooling.

@WarhorseModelworks . The wonderful thing about the AK-47 is that it's affordable and reliable & also it's not finicky about what kind of ammo you feed it. Have you seen the Show "Sons of Guns " ? They proved that it's possible and very accurate at even? 1000 yard..SO for the coast of a tricked out AR or Stoner rifle you can have a more affordable and more reliable rifle in the AK design. I like the AR but not for use as a war Gun !. just a good varmint gun (223 cal)

Eugene Stoner was a weapons design genius - if the AK series was the best? one overall, he would have adapted the design so we could use Chicom ammo. The AK series is reliable, not accurate. Try to use an AK to consistently hit torso size targets with sub 12 inch groups out past 120 yards...try and fail. The M63A was an outstanding system.

@lethalappetite Uh, actually combat troops sometimes hold the buttstock over the shoulder for better maneuverability and faster sight acquisition in close quarters (like room to room) combat. So no, that animation wasn't entirely off...? Other than him having his face so close to the rear sight it'd probably smack him. But other than that, it was fine.
