Creating Your List Of Keywords

You are probably wondering what in the world does a list of keywords have to do with creating an online Classified Ad.  In fact, incorporating keywords into your Ad is extremely important.

There are two main factors of why you should considering doing this.  One is to insure that when someone uses the search function in the Classified program, your ad has the best chance of being called up to be viewed.  The fewer the keywords you have in your ad, the less of a chance that your ad will be called up first or even called up at all.  If it is called up it could be buried under a huge list with more relevant keywords.

The other main factor to include keywords is that that your Ad can be picked up by major search engines when someone searches with it using keywords that you have placed in your Ad.

Here's an actual example of a goat farm Ad enjoying a high search engine ranking because of keyword selection.  Notice that the keywords used in the Ad are goats, sale and Florida.

So, as you can see this ad was pulled up under GoatFinder.com on Google because it had relevant keywords.  The more specific your string of keywords are greatly increases your chances of being pulled up on the search engines.

When your Ad starts appearing on the search engines it's like putting a couple of hundred bucks (dollars) in your pocket.  Businesses pay big money to get a top search engine listing but you can do it with a Free Classified Ad riding on the tail of GoatFinder.com.

Use Keywords That You Think People Will Use To Find
What You Are Selling

To create a list of relevant keywords for your ad you'll need to write down single words or phrases that you think people will use to find your ad. You'll want to use these keywords throughout your Ad.

To help you further understand this we are going to place an Ad to sell a champion Alpine milking doe who is pregnant and here are the keywords selected.

champion

Alpine
doe

As you can see from the list, we selected words that are relevant to what is being promoted as well as what we think people are going to type in to find it.

In addition, we are also making sure that the location information is as specific as possible because many people search for farms nearby.  If you don't ship animals then you'll definitely want to make sure your city state and zip code are used.

Okay, now you have a list of relevant keywords.  Hang on to the keywords because you'll want to use these keywords throughout your ad.

Create An Eye Catching Title For Your Ad.

When a searcher comes across a list of Classified Ads, what is the first thing that they are most likely to notice first?  You guessed it.. "The Title".  If you take a minute when browsing ads you'll notice that the majority of titles are plain and blend in together.

The Sole Purpose Of A Title Is To Grab Someone's Attention And
Get Them To Read Your Ad.

The good news is that most people who place Ads don't consider creating an eye catching title for their goat Ad.  This lack of foresight gives you a distinct advantage over other Ads because you are going to learn how to create a title that will get your Ad noticed first.

Below is an example of how you can distinguish yourself from other Ads.

Typical Title:

Pregnant Alpine doe for sale.

New Title

Absolutely Gorgeous Pregnant Alpine Milking Doe

Looking at the two titles, which one is more likely to grab your attention first? You'll probably agree that the new title is much more compelling than the typical one.  Remember, the only purpose of a title is to make the searcher want to click on your Ad.

So, hopefully this gives you an idea of how you can change the wording of a title to grab someone's attention.  You'll want to use words with some action behind them.  If you have something free to offer along with your animal make sure you use the word free in the title.

The word free is the most powerful word in our vocabulary.  Just be careful that you don't end up using something that is quite outlandish because it can ruin your credibility right from the start.

Writing The Body Of Your Classified Ad.

Okay, we have our keywords and our title, so now we need to create the body of the Ad.  We will want to make sure that we incorporate the keywords we've selected above for our Ad.

Usually, you are allowed a certain number of words or characters per Ad.  You will want to make sure that you use every one of them.  If you run out of things to say for your Ad just add as many keywords as you can at the end of it.

Goat Classified Ad

You can see that in the above Ad we have incorporated all of the keywords that we felt were relevant to what we are selling and also the words that someone might type in to find it.  So, that's all it takes to make a huge difference in the overall effectiveness of your Ad. Take your time writing the initial Ad then you can use it to post to numerous free classifieds.

Adding Photo's To Your Ad

If the Classifieds you are posting to allows a photo then you will definitely want to use one.  Again, using a quality photo will give your Ad an advantage.  You'll want to make sure that the photo clearly shows the goat or goats.  There are so many photo's out there with dark color goats that blend in to dark backgrounds.  You can hardly make the animal out.  If you have a dark colored goat use a light colored background and vice versa.

Lucy2.jpg (34680 bytes)If you have photo editing abilities then you can also spruce up the photo with some text.  Remember that your Ad only allowed a certain number of characters, well imbed some additional text in the picture.  If you click on the image to the left you can get a larger image that will give you an idea of what you can do.

The sky's the limit when comes to using photo's in Classified Ads.  Again, you can create an eye catching photo and use it for all of the Ads you place
