These goats are not only small and cute but they are a valuable addition to the farm. Here is a goat that will provide meat, milk and milk products for the family and do it efficiently. Because of their small size they take much less space than the larger dairy and meat goats. People with very small acreages can raise Kinder goats.
This breed began by crossing a Pygmy and a Nubian. The results of this initial breeding and the subsequent line breeding far surpassed the expectations of those first breeders. After that first breeding, of a Pygmy and Nubian, the Kinder is then bred within their breed. The association allows for no percentage breeding only 50/50 breeding is allowed.
Those who own Kinder goats have found that they do require less feed than the other larger goats. For instance their feed requirements, like those of other small breeds, are about half of the normal amounts required for the larger breeds. They need only minimal space, too, because they stand 20 to 28 inches tall at the withers when they are adults. As for fences the Kinder goats are very agile and capable of jumping 4 foot fences with ease, so a higher fence is a good idea
Kinder goats thrive in all climates and they need no elaborate housing. Just protected from the elements, away from cold drafts in colder climates and sheltered from the sun during the hot months of the year. If you have a brushy area in need of clearing then like any other goats the Kinder will be happy to do the job for you.
The Kinder goat will breed 12 months out of the year so breeders can easily select when they would like the kids to arrive for the benefit of their milking program so the family is never without milk. A doe will usually have form one to six kids per year. Triplets are common so you can easily fill your freezer with meat.
Milk and meat is what the Kinder goat is all about. In the beginning the founders of the Kinder goat thought the main interest for this little goat would be homesteaders and those wanting to live off the land. But this is far from true. The Kinder doe has proved its milking ability with many Kinder does making stars in official milk testing. They have done this by following the same standards as those of the ADGA goats.
It was the Kinders milking ability that lead them to a goat dairy situation, milking alongside larger dairy goats. The higher butterfat content of the Kinder milk means more cheese for the dairyman and their year round breeding means milk during the off season. This makes the Kinder goat a valued commodity.
As the Kinder goat is finding more favor each and every day, what was a secret is about to be revealed to the entire world. This little goat can do all the things that their larger cousins can do and they can do it better.
